A glimpse of the past

Sorry for lack of a recent post on pedigree assignment - I'm a bit busy getting ready for a live show I'm holding in two weeks time, among other things. In the meantime, though, a friend of a friend, whom I met through Facebook because of this blog, posted this and I thought it was too good not to share.

In some ways, of course, it's a glimpse into a forgotten era, but in others, not much changes. I'm sure you could still see gymkhana games just like those, all over the UK, every summer. I don't know about the cart horse Derby, but the Suffolk Horse Society holds a Suffolk Gymkhana at its annual Suffolk Spectacular.

For those friends interested in breed and colour history, the cart horses are probably the most interesting part of this. They look more like heavy cobs than real draught horses, there is a lovely roan, and I think the winner is a dappled buckskin.
